Today I want to talk about stress and why I think it’s an important part of a healthy lifestyle. You need to be able to handle stress really well if you want to be happy!
Hey, everybody. What’s up? How’s it going? Robin here, doing Vlog #103 on the channel, and today I’m going to be talking about stress and how to relax when you feel overstressed with things in life.
This is a very important Vlog, and I think this is a very important topic that is very relevant today with the way things, are going with society and all that stuff. You know, life today is a lot more stressful than it was just even like 10 years ago, let alone 20, 30 years ago.
It seems like the more we’ve progressed, the more stressful life is getting.
I think stress is causing a lot of problems with our society in terms of things like being depressed and having anxiety, and people doing all the things they’re doing nowadays, which isn’t always good stuff.
I think managing stress is really the most important aspect of being a happy person.
People who are happy or people who are content with life, know how to manage stress. They know how to reduce stress in their lives, and that’s why they feel happier.
People who don’t know how to do that, they don’t know how to reduce stress, they don’t know how to do that kind of stuff and are the people who feel more not so good.
In this video, I’m going to give you guys some tips on how you can just kind of, you know, when life feels like it’s a little bit too much, just kind of make everything feel better.
I go through this a lot.
There’s times in life where things are more stressful than other times. On the most part, my life isn’t super stressful.
I have my times like everybody else, but in the past couple years, I’ve really focused on reducing stress, in terms of mental, physical, dietary and all that kind of stuff.
You can see the clouds are coming, that’s why the sun is changing there, haha.
But all that kind of stuff helps you reduce stress.
The number one tip I’m going to give you guys to help reduce stress, and this is one that I struggle with from time to time, but I’ve worked on alot, and it’s really improved the way I feel on a general basis, is to rest.
Get rest, guys. I can’t stress that enough.
You should be sleeping at least eight hours a day. It varies from person to person. Some people only need seven hours, some people need eight.
I find like eight to nine works best for me, depending on how I feel.
If you feel over stressed out, you’re probably going to need even more than that. Get rest guys.
Don’t get like four hours of sleep, five hours of sleep, six hours of sleep. If there’s something that’s causing you to have sleep issues, try your hardest to fix that. Now obviously there are some circumstances where you can’t really do too much about it, but that’s just the way it is, right?
If you’re somebody who can’t sleep at night, practice good sleep hygiene habits.
Turn off your computers. Turn off your cell phones. I have a bad habit of going on the computer at night, and that keeps me awake.
That’s something I need to work on. That’s something that I need to do. For all you people, you guys who are big coffee drinkers, cut out the coffee, and you’ll sleep tremendously better at night.
There’s so many things you can do, but rest is important. That’s the number one thing I recommend, is rest.
Number two, reduce stress in your life.
Now that sounds simple, right? What do you do to feel better when you feel stressed out? Well, reduce stress.
But the problem is, people don’t understand what stress actually is. Now stress is anything, it’s not just the mental aspect of it, its much more.
Let’s say you go to work, and somebody pisses you off. That’s what people think of as regular stress.
But stress is actually anything that basically, for lack of a better word, puts stress on your body.
Like I said, that could be mental, it could be physical, it could be even dietary. A lot of people don’t know this, but what you eat in your diet can determine how much stress you put on your body.
If you eat a lot of junk food, pop, sugar, processed foods, that puts a lot of stress no your digestive system, and that stress manifests in your body, makes you feel more tired, and that effects you mentally, obviously an physically as well.
If you’re tired, and you go throughout your day, you don’t feel good. You’re going to be able to handle stress so much more easier if you were well rested instead.
It’s a simple concept, but a lot of people don’t understand that. So try your best to clean up your diet, eat better, sleep and that will put less stress on your body, and you’ll just feel better.
When you wake up in the morning, like I said, after a good night’s rest, it’s so much easier to enjoy life than if you got like five or six hours of sleep.
Like yesterday for example, I didn’t get a good sleep. Today was a rough day, because I kind of had to drag myself through the day. If I would have got a good nights rest, it would have been a different story. Anytime you can do that, it’s definitely going to make you feel better.
My third tip is going to be, you know what, slow down.
This is a common concept I see a lot with people. I’m like this sometimes too, especially when you’re like go, go, go, go.
We have this tendency to just always be on the go, always do things as fast as we can. You know what guys?
Just slow down.
When you feel like life is just too much, you feel like you’re going to pass out, whatever it is, you just don’t feel good, life isn’t good, just slow down.
If you’re working, and stuff like that, just slow your pace down.
If you need to sit down, or lay down for five or ten minutes, just to rest, because you feel a little bit light headed, do it.
Take a nap.
There’s lots to do in life. I get that. At the same time you have lots of life in front of you. Instead of going work, work, work, work, work, and then being so exhausted after it.
Slow your pace down, and you’ll get more stuff down, and then you won’t be lazy in the afternoon or evening. You won’t be so worn out when you get home from work, or whatever it is you’re doing, that you’re actually able to do stuff and enjoy life.
It all comes down to reducing stress. If you can reduce those bad things that have come into your life, then you’re just going to feel better.
Like I said, there are so many different aspects. There’s the mental aspect, the physical, dietary, lifestyle, all that kind of stuff. It’s all about that healthy balance.
Personally, one of the big things that really reduced stress in my life was actually working less.
I used to work full time. I now work part time. Yes, I make a lot less money because I work part time, but I’ll tell you what guys, working part time has been a game changer for me.
Life is just so much more enjoyable.
That’s been something that really helped, and there’s definitely something to say about working less.
It definitely can make life sometimes a lot more enjoyable. For me, when I was working full time, it was just too much stress. And guys, I’m 27 years old, I’m not old. I’m still pretty young, you know? To be 27 and to see that working a full time job is so stressful is kinda crazy.
It also depends on your job, too. There’s things that you can do to make your job less stressful, as well.
The way I was working, and the style of job I was doing, it was just too stressful for me. So what I did is, I took a step back.
I started working from home, doing stuff like that. And because working from home is pretty easy for me to do. It’s less stressful, I can work at my own pace, I have to work less. It’s kind of nice in that aspect and I love it.
It took a lot of work to get there, but when I got there, it was definitely worth it.
A lot of people ask me, “Why don’t you work more? You can make more money.” It’s less stressful for me, I can enjoy life a heck of a lot more if I work less. So it’s definitely something I’ve worked towards and it’s helped me out a lot.
If you can reduce as much stress as you can into your life, you’re just going to feel better. That’s really how you relax at the end of the day.
I know these tips were pretty brief, and I didn’t go into too much detail.
Each one of these things I talked about, I can make a whole different video for. None the less, I hope you guys liked the video.
If you guys want to share some tips that you guys can give other people for reducing stress, or just feeling better when you feel stressed out, feel free to do so. I’d love to hear them, and I’m sure everybody else would as well.
